Augustus Frederick Fry was the second child of George Fry & Mary Blackman born Jan-March 1882 in Framfield, Sussex.
In 1891 Augustus & his parents & older brother Frank were living at the Grocer’s shop, Framfield where his father was a grocer & draper.
Augustus was working as a draper’s assistant & living at 3 Castle St, Brighton in 1901.
In 1911 Augustus was living with his parents at 16 Cavendish Avenue, Eastbourne, Sussex & he was now a bank clerk.
Augustus married Florence May Oliphant in Oct-December 1911 at Eastbourne. Florence was born August 2nd, 1879 in Hackney, London, the daughter of Sarah A & William Oliphant, a tin plate worker.
Augustus of 5 Glynde Avenue, Hampden Park, Eastbourne, died on November 5th, 1934 at the Freemasons Hospital, Ravenscourt Park, Hammersmith, London. Probate was granted to widow Florence May & his effects were £6488.10s.10d. It was attended by a large body of freemasons wearing sprigs of acacia in their buttonholes. Among the mourners was also a representative gathering of members of the Cavendish bowling club. Many family members were in attendance & the interment took place at Langney Cemetery.
The 1939 register shows widowed Florence living at 26 Hyperion Avenue, Hailsham, Sussex. With her was son Bernard, a motor mechanic, who was now married to Doris F Bond.
Daughter Margaret married Elwyn Warden Owen in 1942 at St Giles, Normanton, Derby.
Florence died in April-June 1969 at Eastbourne.
